Bring Resolution to Your Caucus to Remove Mercury from Vaccines
The precinct caucuses coming up March 7th are an excellent opportunity to promote our work to ensure that vaccines are mercury-free. We encourage you to attend the caucus for the party of your choice and present the resolution below to become part of your party’s platform.
How does one introduce a resolution?
When you arrive, pick up a resolution submission form from the precinct organizers. Fill out the top of the form and attach a copy of the resolution below.
During the meeting, the caucus convener will request that resolution be brought forward. Individuals then stand to read the resolution they want to present. There is opportunity for discussion, and then a vote will be taken. Resolutions that win a majority of support on the precinct level will be forwarded to the next higher level of caucuses and conventions. If a resolution gains enough support throughout the convention process, it wil become part of the state party platform.
You can first watch other people present their resolutions and see that the process is simple!
To find your caucus, watch the newspapers, or go to your party’s website.
Registration starts at 6:30 and the meeting begins at 7 pm. Use the early time to speak with other attendees about supporting this resolution. (Bring extra copies to show others)
Here is our suggested resolution:
WHEREAS, mercury is a potent neurotoxin that can affect the brain, spinal cord, kidneys and liver; and
WHEREAS, thimerosal, the mercury compound in vaccines, is known to cause neurological impairment and birth defects, and
WHEREAS many routine childhood immunizations still contain a trace of mercury, and most flu vaccines still contain significant amounts of mercury and
WHEREAS there are now mercury-free vaccines for almost every recommended immunization,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Minnesota health care providers use only mercury-free vaccines when available, and that if a vaccine containing more than a trace amount of mercury must be given, that informed consent be obtained prior to giving the vaccine.
